The tail-end of a very strong doubled ark Aurora that hit Scotland last night. I was in bed when I noticed the levels were so high so I just headed to a spot up the road that I shoot quite often. I find repeatedly shooting a location seems to pay off, and it helped me this time already knowing the kind of composition I could use.
Anyway as with the last time I wasn't out for the peak but it was still amazing, first time Ive seen the flares dance around the sky. I'll be more prepaired from now on
Luck is exactly it, it only lasted for 10 minutes so I'm glad I got out, just have to keep alert! The levels are actually a bit hopeful for tonight. Give this group a go if your looking to catch it some time, only reason I ever have!
The best I can do is next October, possibly April. I'm doing a cycling trip around Skye and Uist next summer but I'm not sure how strong it would be if its even still happening then. I did read somewhere that the peak is supposed to last through 2013 though let hope so!
